future MOST NetServices Versions
3.3V power supply
Standard 128-pin MQFP Package
Description
This Amplifier Processor demonstrates the flexi-
bility and cost effectiveness of the OS8805
Series. The amplifier chip does all the process-
ing necessary to
transport audio in-
formation between
a MOST Network
and external ampli-
fier hardware.
The controller in-
cludes a MOST
Network interface,
a microcontroller,
two DSPs, 128K of
internal FLASH
memory, and sev-
eral A/D and D/A
converters. There
are analog inputs
for one stereo sig-
nal and an electret microphone. The processor
provides digital sound processing for ten inde-
pendent output audio streams.
The integrated MOST NetServices provide the
software services needed to communicate with
other MOST devices.
The design is
modular so that
functions can be
easily added or re-
moved. It is pos-
sible to add pro-
cessing blocks to
the software func-
tions so that new
algorithms can be
implemented. Soft-
ware updates can
be flashed into the
controller over the
MOST Network.
As an application
example for the
Amplifier Controller an amplifier protyping de-
vice is available from OASIS SiliconSystems.
Preliminary
8 Channel Power Amplifier 4 MOST
Amplifier Controller 4 MOST
Amplifier Controller for Low/Mid and High End Applications
Hardware Features
The functions integrated into the controller allow for a
compact design where the majority of functions are imple-
mented within a single chip.
The following hardware functions are included:
Line Level Outputs for Active Speakers
Stereo Line Input for an external Audio Source
Microphone Input for Speech and ambient Noise
Input
Network updateable FLASH Memory to store
Amplifier parameters
Updating to future MOST NetServices Versions
possible
Software Features
The controller includes OASIS' MOST NetServices soft-
ware needed to connect to a MOST network and to inter-
act with other MOST devices.
The following audio processing functions are included:
Source Level Matching
Volume Control (Volume, Balance, Fade)
Intelligent Mute
Tone Control
Loudness (Bass Boost)
Graphic Equalizer
Dynamic Compression
Delay (Option)
Mixing of Audio Channels
The controller is easily adaptable for different amplifier
configurations, such as differing numbers of speakers and
different default equalization values. The software can be
extended with additional parameters and functions which
can be flashed into the controller over the MOST Net-
work.
Application Example of an Eight Channel Power Amplifier
1) Power amplifier
2) Line output amplifier
3) Differential input amplifier
